چکیده

Calcium carbonate particles with a unique tablet shape were produced by simply aging the prerefrigerated (at 41C for 24 h) CaCl2–gelatin–urea solutions at 701C for 24 h in ordinary glass media bottles. Gelatin is known to be the denatured collagen. The thermal decomposition of dissolved urea was exploited to provide the Ca ion and gelatin-containing solutions with aqueous carbonate ions. Monodisperse CaCO3 microtablets formed in solution had a mean particle size of 472.5mm. CaCO3 microtablets were biphasic in nature and comprised of about 93% vaterite and 7% calcite. Identical solutions used without prerefrigeration yielded only trigonal prismatic calcite crystals upon aging at 701C for 24 h. Prerefrigeration of CaCl2– gelatin–urea solutions was thus shown to have a remarkable effect on the particle morphology. Samples were characterized by scanning electron microscopy, Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy, and powder X-ray diffraction.

Effects of different types and concentration of salts on the rheological and thermal properties of sin croaker and shortfin scad skin gelatin

The aims of this study were to examine the effect of salts (CaCl2, CaSO4 and MgSO4) on the rheological and thermal properties of gelatin extracted from the skins of tropical fishes, sin croaker (Johnius dussumeiri) and shortfin scad (Decapterus macrosoma). It was found that the melting temperatures of fish skin gelatins were increased by 1.5 times as compared to bovine gelatin which was only in...

Kinetics of urease mediated calcite precipitation and permeability reduction of porous media evidenced by magnetic resonance imaging

The enzyme urease drives the hydrolysis of urea leading to the release of ammonium ions and bicarbonate; in the presence of calcium, the rise in pH leads to increased calcium carbonate saturation and the subsequent precipitation of calcite. Although such alkalinizing ureolysis is widespread in nature, most studies have focussed on bacteria (i.e. indigenous communities or urease-active Sporosarc...

نقش گرمادهی ، کلرید کلسیم و پرمنگنات پتاسیم بر عمر انباری و سفتی گوشت میوه سیب گلدن دلیشس

‘Golden Delicious’ apples were vacuum infiltrated (250 mm Hg) with 0, 4, and 6% solutions of CaCl2 followed by heat treatment for 0, 48 and 72 hours at 38oC. Treated fruits were stored at 0oC with RH of 85-90% for 2.5 and 5 months, followed by one week of storage at 20C. The results showed that fruits treated with 4 and 6% of CaCl2 significantly increased calcium content of fruits after 2.5 an...

اثر کاربرد پس از برداشت املاح کلسیم بر کیفیت و ماندگاری توت فرنگی

Because of its tenderness, long distance between field and consumer locations and unsuitable condition of transportation, 30 – 40 percent of strawberry fruits is wasted during the transportation between field to markets. One of the recommended ways for cutting down the wastes of strawberry is application of calcium salts after harvest stage to increase the content of Ca2+ in fruit flesh. For th...
